Innovation, Kilang Pertamina Internasional's Way of Maintaining Business Continuity
Jakarta, 11 December 2024 - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) continues to innovate as a way to ensure the sustainability of the company's business. Innovation is not limited to the creation of new products, but also innovations related to work processes so that the Company's operations can run more effectively and efficiently.
"Innovation is a culture that is inherent in KPI. Therefore, the company continues to facilitate the birth of new innovators," said KPI Corporate Secretary, Hermansyah Y Nasroen.
According to Hermansyah, this innovative culture is not just a slogan but continues to be realized and implemented in the company's business processes.
"Internally in the company, we have an annual program, the Grand Quality Innovation Forum (GFIM). This annual program is an event to bring together all innovators in the KPI environment to show the innovations they have made and their impact on the company's business," explained Hermansyah.
Before advancing to the central level, these innovations have been selected at the unit level.
"One of the points assessed in this forum is the process and benefits obtained by the company. These benefits must also be validated by the competent part within the company," said Hermansyah.
The 2024 KPI GPIM was held in early December and was attended by 517 innovators divided into 68 groups or clusters. A total of 14 clusters received a Platinum rating and 40 clusters received a Gold rating and 14 clusters received a Silver rating.
"KPI innovations are actually not only recognized internally by KPI," said Hermanyah.
Various KPI innovations have also been recorded as having received awards both at the national and international levels. At the national level, 3 KPI innovations related to technology, ESG and increasing avtur production received the Dharma Karya award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
At the international level, this year KPI innovations were recorded as having received awards at the 2024 International Trade Fair, Ideas, Inventions, New Products (IENA) in Nuremberg. At the event, the innovation developed by KPI successfully won special appreciation from associations of IENA partner countries including the "Korean Intellectual Property Association (KIPA), Chinese Association of Inventors and National Research and Council of Thailand".
In addition, KPI also received special awards from the "International Federation of Inventors Association (IFIA)" and "AFAG Gmbh". KPI's innovation also received an award at the Taiwan Innotech Expo 2024.
"These awards are not the company's final goal. This is the company's way of measuring the quality of the innovations that have been carried out and is expected to be a driving force to continue developing a culture of learning," concluded Hermansyah.
KPI is a subsidiary of Pertamina which runs its main business of oil and petrochemical processing in accordance with the ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) principles. KPI has also been registered with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and is committed to the Ten Universal Principles or Ten Principles of the UNGC in its operational strategy as part of implementing ESG aspects. KPI will continue to run its business professionally to realize its vision of becoming a world-class Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Company that is environmentally aware, socially responsible and has good corporate governance.
